Jetsettersblog ? Seasoned Travel Preferred Autumn Food And Drink ...

Seasoned Travel has launched holidays to some of Europe?s best food festivals as an antidote to the shorter days and darker nights. The ?International White Truffle Fair? in Italy is perfect for an authentic, rustic Italian experience. And for those struggling with the cold and wanting to put a little sparkle back into their lives, the ?Cava Week? in Catalonia is just the tonic.

International White Truffle Fair

Festival date: Saturdays and Sundays between 8th October and 13th November 2011

Location: Alba, Piemonte (Italy)

The International White Truffle Fair is a sight to behold. The white truffle is revered in foodie circles, its woody, earthy flavour being a delicacy that only few will try in their lives. The ?white diamond? as it is known, can only be harvested from the beginning of October onwards, and then only in a small area of Italy.

The International Truffle Fair celebrates this indulgent ingredient with a lively truffle market and fair. There is a ?Truffle of the Year? competition as well as food and wine sampling and celebrations. And to add a touch of local rivalry, accompanied by parades and musical bands, the crowds gather to support their jockey at the annual donkey race between the neighbouring villages.

Throughout the white truffle hunting season, guests of Seasoned Travel can take part in a real live truffle hunt. Accompanied by a truffle hunter and his truffle hunting dog the hunt takes guests through a scenic trail in Asti and culminates in a gourmet truffle tasting session accompanied by wines and other local produce.

Prices: 3 nights in Erbaluna countryside agriturismo with flights to Turin, a truffle hunt, truffle tasting and a visit to Tartuflanghe truffle laboratory from ?390 per person based on two people sharing, departing 14th October 2011, subject to availability.

Cava Week

Festival date: 8th ? 16th October

Location: Sadurn? d?Anoia, Catalonia (Spain)

For all things fizzy this October there?s nowhere better than Cava Week in Catalonia. The normally sleepy town of Sadurni d?Anoia, one of the main producers of cava, comes to life to celebrate this sparkly tipple.

Guests staying in Barcelona board the cava train to Sadurni d?Anoia with over 1000 revellers, including huge puppets and music bands. On arrival at Sadurni d?Anoia, greeted by the cava houses with open doors and open arms, the tastings, feastings and celebrations commence. Expect gourmet meals, exhibitions, lots of the fizzy stuff and general merriment.

A trip to the Cava Week celebrations is ideally combined with a stay in Barcelona, a local off-the-beaten-track tapas tour and a discovery of the incredible cuisine of this city.

Price: 3 nights in 3* Internacional Cool Hotel on Las Ramblas with return flights to Barcelona and a private tapas tour round the best tapas bars in Barcelona including tapas, drinks and a local guide, personalised itinerary and restaurant recommendations and reservations, from ?470 per person based on two people sharing, departing 14th October 2011, subject to availability.
